Festivals and Events

Festivals in Himachal Pradesh:

 Himachal Pradesh government promotes tourism in Himachal actively and they organize many events and festivals all year round. International Shimla Summer Festival, Winter Carnival Manali, Ice Skating Festival, International paragliding championships in Bir Billing are some of the main events organized in Himachal. World Tourism Day is celebrated is also celebrated in Himachal in a big way.

Kullu Dussehra, International Festival: Kullu Dussehra is a week long international level fair held every year during October/November. The International Kullu Dussehra fair is scheduled to be held in October, 2015. The major attraction of the fair is the assembly of hundreds of local deities.

Lavi Fair - Rampur: Every year the Lavi fair is organised between 11th to 14th November at Rampur, 130 km from Shimla. This is an International festival of trade of dry Fruits, Handicrafts and Handlooms etc.

Minjar Fair: Minjar is the most popular fair of Chamba. The week long International fair begins when the Minjar flag is hoisted in Chowgan. Sports and cultural programmes are organised during the fair.

Shimla Summer Festival: Every year in the month of May/June international Shimla summer festival is organised with great enthusiasm. In 2015 he international summer festival Shimla is scheduled to be held from 1st -6th June. Ice-skating competitions and festival is also organized in Shimla between December and February. Winter Carnival held in Manali is another major festival in Himachal organized by the tourism department. In 2014 the winter Carnival in Himachal was celebrated in February which attracted a large crowd.
